BOTOX® is a purified protein produced by clostridium botulium bacterium. It is a non-surgical, physician- administered treatment that temporarily reduces moderate to severe frown lines in people 18 to 65 years of age. During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX® are administered with tiny injections into the muscles.
How does BOTOX® work?
Moderate to severe frown lines form between eyebrows over time from muscle activity. BOTOX® is injected into the muscles between the brows. BOTOX® blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles reducing persistent lines.
Is BOTOX® treatment painful?
Discomfort is usually minimal and brief. The injection needle is VERY small and is described as being less painful than a "mosquito bite".
When can you see results from BOTOX® injection?
In 3 to 4 days you will see marked improvement in the frown lines. Lines continue to improve for up to a month. In clinical trials, nearly 90% of men and women rated the improvement in their appearance as moderate to better after one-month post treatment. Results may vary.
How long will BOTOX® last?
Results from your BOTOX® treatment can last for 4 to 6 months. If you discontinue treatment your frown lines will gradually look as they did before treatment.
Who should not use BOTOX®?
Patients with neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk for serious side effects.
Will I experience any side effects?
Side effects are rare, but can include, temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and or bruising may be associated with the injection site.
Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?
Although the results are visible, BOTOX® will not radically change your facial appearance or make you look as if you "had work done". You can still frown and look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.
Is BOTOX® affordable?
When considering facial aesthetic options, BOTOX® is very affordable. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery survey, BOTOX® is one of the most popular low-cost entry facial aesthetic procedure in the United States.
Juvederm is a smooth consistency injectable gel dermal filler derived from hyaluronic acid, a natural complex sugar found in the body.
It helps to restore the volume, between collagen and elastin fibers, below the surface of the skin resulting in the diminished appearance of wrinkles and folds for a younger and more even appearance.
One of the advantages of Juvederm is its smooth, pliant texture (a result of its unique manufacturing process) which results in soft, natural-looking results.
How does JUVEDERM work?
When injected below the surface of the skin, Juvederm replaces the hyaluronic acid that has been lost over time. As it integrates between the collagen and elastin, the hyaluronic acid not only restores volume but also improves the hydration of the skin.
Can JUVEDERM be used for all skin types?
Yes! Juvederm is the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use on all skin types.
Is JUVEDERM safe?
Juvederm was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2006 for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles, folds, and lines. Because Juvederm is a fully biodegradable and biocompatible gel based on a natural substance, there is little or no risk of allergic reactions that can sometimes occur as a result of treatments using
animal-derived fillers. No pre-testing is required, and as Juvederm breaks down, it is easily absorbed by the body.
How long does the treatment take?
The length of treatment session varies from client-to-client based on how many areas require correction and how many applications of Juvederm will be used to achieve optimal results. In general, Juvederm treatments range from 30 minutes to an hour and can be scheduled between other appointments or on your lunch hour. No recovery time is required so you are able to return to daily activities immediately.
Are there any side effects?
Juvederm is a fully biodegradable and biocompatible gel based on a natural substance and because it is not derived from animal-based proteins or products, there is little or no risk of an allergic reaction. Some clients may experience tenderness, temporary redness, or minimal swelling at the injection areas. Any discomfort following treatment should disappear within 24 hours or a few days.
How long do the results last?
Because of its high concentration of hyaluronic acid and its ability to naturally integrate with the body's tissues, Juvederm has been shown to be a long-lasting wrinkle correction option. While results vary from client-to-client, FDA-approved studies show that the benefits of Juvederm can last up to a full year. This makes Juvederm the first, and currently the only HA (hyaluronic acid) filler that has FDA approval for results lasting up to one year with a single treatment. Occasional maintenance treatments can help to ensure that you will continue to enjoy the optimal results of Juvederm.
